This will be a big night for Morocco, who are hosting the tournament for the second time in a row after finishing as runners-up in 2022. In that edition, they reached the final but lost 2-1 to South Africa. Their strong performance helped them qualify for the 2023 Women’s World Cup, where they made it to the Round of 16, a historic achievement.
Now, with Spanish coach Jorge Vilda, who led Spain to the 2023 Women’s World Cup title, at the helm, the Atlas Lionesses are hoping to go one step further and win the trophy at home.
Zambia are also coming into the tournament with big ambitions. They finished third in 2022, beating Nigeria in the bronze medal match. This is their fourth WAFCON appearance.
